Seminary (10-11 Academic Year)

Organized by Sara Green

No More Loans!
As many of you know, I started back to school in July off 2009. I am working on a Master's Degree in Divinity and simultaneously completing the requirements for ordination in the Presbyterian church (U.S.A.). While I am not 100% sure what I will be doing after I graduate and am hopefully ordained, I definitely intend on doing ministry either as a pastor, a teacher, a campus chaplain, or some combination of those.

In order to come to Princeton Theological Seminary I had to take out a significant amount of loans. It is my goal to not take out any more loans from this Summer forward! While educational debt is "good" debt, it will limit the jobs I am able to consider once I graduate. I'm not in this for money so my hope is to be able to take a job I feel called to even if the pay is not as high as other jobs.

I have already received some financial aid and intend on applying for other grants and scholarships, but there are a lot of unknowns for those. I will also be working a part time job at the seminary and my required internships will also provide funds. Even with these funds, there is a high probability that I will need to fill in the gaps so to speak.

For those who would like to "chip-in" towards my education, I thought this might be an easy way for folks to do that. If you are more comfortable sending a monetary gift directly to the seminary on my behalf, that is a great option as well. Please send it to:

Princeton Theological Seminary
Attn: Bursar's Office
64 Mercer Street
Princeton, NJ 08540

If you choose this route, please put my name on the "memo" line as well as any correspondence you send with your gift.

I guess that is all for now...I have just finished the "long" term of the Fall semester (where I took 3 classes) and am now starting the "short" term of the Fall semester where I am taking 1 course in 3 weeks. The Spring semester will start in February.

May 2010 be a great year for each of you!

Grace & peace,
Sara
